Following the update in the issue’s solicitation, Tom King commented on the change on his Twitter account.

This is for Batman Annual 2. The @Inkdropinc is doing the 1st story, Lark is doing the 2nd. The two stories are connected and will have a big impact on Batman going forward. Really proud of this one on many levels. If you liked Batman/Fudd, I think this might be better. https://t.co/JC9fO5x6cJ

The issue will contain two interconnected stories, with artist Lee Weeks providing art for the first story and Lark working on the second. As the annual’s synopsis mentions, the two stories are expected to shine light on the early years of Batman and Catwoman’s relationship.

Travel back in time with us to see the early days of the Bat and the Cat. What was Bruce and Selina’s first date? How did this rivalry blossom into romance, and then go right back to being a rivalry again? Tom King reteams with his BATMAN/ELMER FUDD collaborator Lee Weeks to show us a little young love with capes and cowls. And a little crimefighting, too.

Batman Annual #2 is expected to tie into the ongoing story King is telling in the pages of Batman and will hit stands on November 29.
