News Chikara Sakura Directs One-Punch Man Anime's 2nd Season at J.C. Staff
Yoshikazu Iwanami directs sounds, main cast returns

The official website for the anime adaptation of ONE and Yuusuke Murata's One-Punch Man manga announced the main staff and cast for the anime's second season on Tuesday. Chikara Sakurai (Magimoji Rurumo, episode director for Naruto Shippūden) is replacing Shingo Natsume to direct the season at J.C. Staff (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Children of the Whales). Madhouse animated the first season.

Yoshikazu Iwanami (Girls und Panzer, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) is replacing Shoji Hata as sound director. Chikashi Kubota (Corpse Princess: Aka, FLCL 2) is returning to design the characters, and Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) is again in charge of series composition. Makoto Miyazaki (Triage X, Dragon Crisis!) is also returning to compose the music.

The main cast are reprising their roles in the second season.

The One-Punch Man Maji CD Drama & Song CD will ship in Japan on Wednesday. The second audio drama CD in the series will ship on December 20.

The anime's staff announced in September 2016 that the series would get a second season. Madhouse and director Shingo Natsume's first 12-episode anime season aired in Japan from October-December 2015. Viz Media and Daisuki both streamed the series outside of Japan as it aired. The anime premiered with an English dub on Adult Swim's Toonami block in July 2016.

Viz Media released the series on home video in North America. The company's Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack shipped with six original video anime (OVA) episodes on April 25. Each OVA episode features a completely original story written by the manga's original author ONE.

Murata's manga series adapts ONE's original web manga of the same name. Murata's manga is currently running on Shueisha's free Tonari no Young Jump spinoff website. Shueisha released the 14th compiled book volume on August 4. The series has 13 million copies in print as of July.

Viz Media is publishing the original manga series digitally on its Weekly Shonen Jump anthology, and it is also releasing the series in print. Viz Media released the manga's 12th compiled volume digitally on July 18 and in print on September 5.
