Happy birthday, Hayao Miyazaki! The artist and creator is celebrating his 75th birthday. Hayao Miyazaki was born on January 5, 1941, in Tokyo, Japan. He is the founder of Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli, and the director of many of its most popular and iconic films. Miyazaki's art shows clear, fluid motions, with an emphasis on emotions and expressiveness, and lush, evocative backgrounds. He's probably best known for his work on the films "Princess Mononoke" and "Spirited Away." Retired in 2013, following the release of his latest film, "The Wind Rises," Hayao Miyazaki is considered by many to be the Walt Disney of Japan.
