News Zatch Bell Manga Gets Smartphone Browser Game
Game part of new BXD company's lineup alongside Dragon Ball Z, The [email protected]

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced during the Tokyo Game Show event on Thursday that Makoto Raiku's Zatch Bell (Konjiki no Gash!!) manga will get a smartphone browser game adaptation. The title will debut later than the new Dragon Ball Z, Family Stadium, and The [email protected] browser games that Bandai Namco Entertainment plan to debut in spring 2018.

Raiku published the original 33-volume manga between 2001-2007. Viz Media published 25 volumes in North America. The manga inspired a 150-episode anime series between 2003-2006, and two anime films in 2004 and 2005.

Bandai Namco Entertainment and video game company Drecom founded game company BXD in May to develop a gaming platform distribution service to release these HTML5-based online games. The browser games will be for smartphone use. A teaser for one of these games, Dragon Ball Z Bucchigiri Match, also debuted at the event on Thursday.

The new service will be at its core free to play, but parts of the service will have charges.

BXD stands for "Breakthrough X Digital Life." Kōji Tezuka, who is currently the second production general manager of Bandai Namco Entertainment's NE division, will serve as the head of BXD. The company's new service also plans to distribute third-party titles. BXD itself officially launched on August 3 with a capital stock of 247.5 million yen (about US$2,214,000).
