The official website for the Code Geass project began streaming a new trailer promotional video and revealed a new visual on Friday for Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Kōdō (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - The Awakening Path), the first of the planned compilation film trilogy for the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 anime series. The video previews some of the new footage created for the first film.

The site also revealed that every week, for six weeks, filmgoers will receive a different bonus for purchasing a ticket for the first film. Filmgoers in the first week will get a DVD with a new picture drama titled "Kamen Kokuhaku Taikai" (Mask Confession Tournament).

The three films are titled, in order of continuity: Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Kōdō (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - The Awakening Path), Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Handō (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - The Rebellion Path), and Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Ōdō (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - The Imperial Path). The first film is slated to open in Japan on October 21, the second film in February 2018, and the third film in May 2018.

Takahiro Kimura drew the below poster visuals.

Those who pre-purchase tickets for the first film in participating theaters will receive an A4-size clear file and a movie ticket with the first film's poster visual.

The films will recap all 50 episodes of both Code Geass series. The cast are re-recording all their lines for the films, and the films will include new scenes.

In addition, the franchise will receive two new spinoff works that will launch this fall on the official website of Yatate Bunko, Sunrise's new light novel imprint. The first spinoff is titled Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch Gaiden - Shiro no Kishi, Kurenai no Yasha (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - Lancelot & Guren), and it will center on stories about both Suzaku and Kallen that were not portrayed in the original story. Bisui Takahashi (Shūmatsu Sekai no Spellbreaker light novels) is penning the scenario, and Takahiro Kimura is drawing the character designs. Astrays is responsible for the new Knightmare Frame designs.

The second spinoff is titled Code Geass Danshō - Mosaic no Kakera (Code Geass Story Fragment - Piece of the Mosaic). The work will be an omnibus work that will focus on six different protagonists whose lives are affected and changed by the events of the main story.

The original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 anime series will also get reruns on BS11 starting on October 1 at 7:00 p.m., and will air two episodes every Sunday.

The original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series premiered in Japan in 2006, while Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 premiered in 2008. The Adult Swim network aired both series in North America in 2008. Bandai Entertainment released both seasons on home video in North America before it stopped offering new DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and manga releases in 2012. Funimation announced its license of the series in 2013. The franchise is receiving a sequel project titled Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection). The format of the sequel has not yet been revealed.

The five-part Code Geass: Akito the Exiled OVA is a spinoff of the original anime series, and is set in between the two seasons. The first episode debuted in Japan with a theatrical screening in 2012, and the fifth and final episode opened in theaters in Japan in February 2016. Funimation licensed the series in 2013, and premiered it at a screening at Otakon in August 2016. The company released the entire series on home video on June 27.
